Surrey Veterinary Physiotherapy

Helen Morrell - Veterinary Physiotherapist

Surrey Veterinary Physiotherapy is run by Helen Morrell,

BHSAI, BSc(Hons), DipM, MSc Vet Phys, MNAVP.

Helen Morrell - Animal Physiotherapist - Horse Physiotherapist - Equine Physio

Helen first qualified in 1993, and is a keen horsewoman. From her initial BHSAI qualification, Helen went on to complete a BSc(Hons) at Newcastle University, and an MSc in Veterinary Physiotherapy, the highest University accredited qualification in this field. Her main interests lie in the musculoskeletal and neurological systems. Helen is a member of the NAVP and also holds an Academic post at Harper Adams University, where she lectures in Veterinary Science on undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses.

Helen is the only UK-based physiotherapist who is also qualified as a veterinary thermographer, having undertaken training at the University of Florida’s College of Veterinary Medicine, and is widely acknowledged for introducing the technology to the companion animal sector in the UK.
Helen uses state of the art thermal imaging cameras to monitor physiological changes in the animal, helping to pinpoint seats of pathology, monitor recovery, and establish the optimum time to return to work.

Animal Physiotherapist - Helen Morrell - Veterinary PhysiotherapistHelen has judged dressage and showing to county level, employing her keen eye on conformation and gait. Having started her own homebred youngsters and classically trained many horses up to national competition standard during her career, her experience in the saddle and on the ground is invaluable in developing effective remedial exercise prescriptions, and ensuring harmony between horse and rider. Her passion for wildlife was recently lived with a short sabbatical to South Africa to work in game conservation, which allowed for some hands-on experience with big cats alongside other members of the 'big five'.

Dogs also feature very heavily in Helen's life, only being without one for a few years during study. She currently has a rescued Golden Retriever called Alfie, and together with help from a great trainer is hoping he will one day enjoy working in the field.
